Hi all, I am currently recruiting for an Import Clerk based in Feltham.

Title:Import Clerk
Reportable to:Import Manager
Line Management Responsibilities:None

Main Purpose:To process and control the import of all shipments into the UK. Ensure all shipments are retrieved from the relevant handling facility in good time to meet the expected delivery time. By controlling all the imports to the UK aim to improve the external working relationship with the handling facilities and overseas offices and a clear communication line with other departments within the London branch.
Ensure the correct job process flow is maintained and customs entries are filed accordingly for record purposes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1.Reporting to the Import Manager, this person will be responsible for successfully supporting Import functions. This will include the daily co-ordination of the companies drivers and Sub Contractors.

2.Manage the receipt of all inbound files from Customer Services on a daily basis to ensure that shipments are retrieved from the relevant handling facilities to meet the agreed deadline

3.Provide clear and accurate information regarding the handling of the shipments especially when shipments are delayed

4.Communicate with Customer Services and Operations in regards to the retrieval of shipments back to the LON office

5.Communicate with other company Offices and Overseas agents to attain the pre-alert information required to process the import.

6.Communicate with airlines and handling facilities.

7.Imports primary function is to gather the information required to retrieve and deliver all shipments within the requested transit time.

8.Tracking arrivals and trace investigations to improve recovery service. Obtain handling reports and refunds where appropriate.

9.Control sheet and file management to ensure the information is complete and accurate.

6.To undertake any other reasonable duties at the request of the Line Manager or Branch Manager.

*PC/System literate
*Good working knowledge of Excel and Word
*Ability, through knowledge, to adapt and deal with enquiries & day to day issues
*Import Customs Systems e.g. ASM, Datafreight
*EU and Non EU criteria
*Defra permits
*Airline routing and schedules
*Customs procedures

*Experience in dealing with people and speaking to clients
*Experience in the courier or freight industry
*Previous experience in Imports Department within an office environment

*No Essential Qualifications
*Security Level D
*Industry related Diploma
*Dangerous Goods Qualified / DG Awareness
